Queens shooter Mwawi Kumwenda and Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) saga refuse to rest as it has taken another shape.
In the latest development, Mwawi’s manager Hlupikire Chalamba said that the netball star is “always excited and committed to represent Malawi but wants NAM to clear circumstances that led to her being expelled from the Queens camp ahead of the Fast5 World Netball series for late arrival in camp.
“I have advised her to wait until we have a better understanding of what transpired during the last call-up which led to her expulsion from camp,” said Chalamba.
Chalamba added that if NAM found her reasons to have been unacceptable, then they would have accorded her a chance to be “properly, fairly and impartially” heard before enforcing a decision to expel her.
” Through these twist of events, Mwawi and I have nonetheless respected your decision, and we remained optimistic that we would have a two-way discussion surrounding this issue. It is not clear that the expulsion from the camp constituted a disciplinary action or Mwawi is yet to undergo formal disciplinary action,” reads part of the letter sent to NAM.
NAM officials were not available for the comment.
