Moyale Barracks has secured their semi-final spot in the ongoing Fisd Challenge Cup after thrashing Umodzi FC 8-1 on Thursday at Kalulu Stadium in Chikwawa.
Khuda Muyaba put the visitors ahead in the 22nd minute after receiving a cross from Gift Nyando before Chanveka Gwetsani added the second goal seven minutes later through an impressive direct free-kick.
Moyale’s second goal made Umodzi coach Dickson Phiri make quick changes bringing in Tony Mankhwala and David Tovy coming for Austine Mwaungulu and Elias Tchale respectively.
This proved no point as Mzuzu based soldiers came hard with another punishment from Gift Nyando three minute before the break.
Come second half, Moyale added goals from Timothy Nyirenda, Lesman Singini, Gift Nyando, Khuda Muyawa
Umodzi scored a consolation through Tony Mankhwazi.
Speaking after the match, Moyale coach Charles Kamanga praised his boys for the victory.
“I have to thank my being serious, We always have problems when playing with non-league sides. We did not underrate them they gave us a good game now we have to look at our next games”, said Kamanga.
His counterpart Dickson Phiri described the loss as a painful loss in history.
“Our mission was to go next round of the competition, it is very unfortunate that we’ve failed to fulfil our dreams. this is a painful loss and the score margin was big. We’ll go back prepare for the next season”, said Phiri.
Moyale will meet Nyasa Big Bullets in the semifinals in a venue that will be announced by Football Association of Malawi.
