The 2017 Chipiku Central Region Football Association (CRFA) League was launched in grand style on Sunday at Salima Community Centre Ground.
Ambassadors striker Chikaiko Batson scored the first goal of the season in the seventh minute, which was cancelled by Olembe Macheso in the 36th minute.
During the ceremony, Chipiku Stores regional manager for the Centre, Erani Nkozatani, thanked the community for supporting their businesses adding that their expectation is that the league will run smoothly.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) vice-president James Mwenda said they have always being grateful to Chipiku Stores.
“They have been with us for quite sometime now and we appreciate their support.
“The sponsorship has played a tremendous role in developing the game,” said Mwenda as reported by FAM website.
Deputy director of sports Justice Msopera, who was the guest of honour, said government encourages stakeholders to take part in partnership with sports disciplines.
CRFA general secretary Bernard Chiwiruwiru Harawa, said the league has intensified measures to curb poor officiation in the 2007 season.
Chipiku Stores, have been sponsoring the league for the past 11 years.
