EPAC FC Coach Leo Mpulura, who was suspended on Monday following his team’s poor start to the season, has hit back at team manager Obed Tatsunda Banda for suspending him through the media without communicating to him.
According to the Malawi24, EPAC suspended Mpulura after posting poor results which has seen the team recording a single victory in 6 games.
Confirming the development, Tatsunda Banda said the team was registering poor results hence suspending the head coach.
He also revealed that Mpulura’s assistant, Abbas Makawa, will now take over from the suspended coach.
“Yes, it’s true that we have suspended Leo Mpulura with immediate effect because we have just managed to accumulate five points from the six games we have played so far this season. He is failing to deliver and we will see the way forward, “he said.
But reacting to the development, Mpulura said EPAC officials especially team manager Tatsunda Banda knows nothing about football.
“I don’t want them to suspend them; I want them to terminate my contract and will return back to Blantyre. They know nothing about football especially the General Secretary. I wasn’t employed through the media.
“I was with the general secretary in the morning, how come he went straight to the media without hearing from me first to know the reasons behind the team’s poor start to the season? They don’t know anything, I will answer them once I go through the letter but I will hit them hard.
“There are lots of problems within the team and I can’t disclose them now but instead of seating down with me to discuss the way forward, he thought it wise to go to the media without consulting me. The team is not performing well not because of Leo but the problems that have engulfed the club. This is my biggest embarrassment of my life,” he said.
According to reports, the team’s executive suspended Mpulura without communicating to him only to hear it from the local media. The team is currently on position 13th with five points from six games.
